History of Fendi: Italian tradition, furs & Lagerfeld’s ‘Haute Fourrure
The Fendi fashion label looks back on a long history. The fur and leather goods distributor was founded by the married couple Adele Casagrande and Edoardo Fendi in Rome in 1917. After the death of the founding couple, the family business was divided between the five daughters Paola, Anna, Franca, Carla and Alda. In 1965 they hired the German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld as Creative Director. After his death, one of his heiresses, Silvia Venturini Fendi, followed in his footsteps and still runs the Italian luxury brand today.
